Collecting Testimonials:

I recommend asking three key questions:

  1. Where were you before we worked together? What were you struggling with, and how did it feel?

  2. Where are you now, after we’ve worked together? What successes, qualitative or quantitative, have you seen? How do you feel now?

  3. What was the process of working with me like? Did anything surprise you? What in particular stood out?

Assembling Testimonials:

Scan through the full testimonial, rearranging their comments as necessary.

  1. First, find the most important thing they said. If a visitor to your website could only read one line from a testimonial, what would you want that line to be? This is your testimonial headline.

  2. Then, arrange the rest of their testimonial in this order: a) Where they were before they worked with you, b) what working with you was like, and c) where they are now that they’ve worked with you (note this is a different order than you asked the questions in the collection process).

Suddenly everything makes sense… we feel empowered.

Before working with Stephen, our organization felt like we were in a constant state of stress, not knowing how to prepare for our future. Working with Stephen was an absolute pleasure and a relief. Now, we feel not only prepared for our future but empowered to shape our future meaningfully.
